Yes excellent points…
There are many jumpers who are able to jump over 8m running 10.2 m/s from 11-1m. The thing is though, these athletes don’t lose much speed during take off…On avg most top jumpers lose 1m/s at take off…So, Dwight runs 10.9 m/s from 11-1 and often is moving at 9.9 ish m/s during take off…this is more than enough to jump very big…
If 10.4 m/s is my MAX speed…i’ll be taking off at around 9.4 m/s if i’m lucky…and as we’ve seen this is enough to jump 8 meters but only if i really hit the take off and landing well…
All jumpers need to that comfort speed, your right…and i can see why develop a solid fly 20m -30m would really enhance someones relaxed fly 10m speed…for that reason, i can understand the need for a lot of longer fly work…
