I must bow to Vern now. Peter Callahan beat Thompson twice today in the 800m and 1600m races at the IHSA state meet in Charleston, IL. Peter also ran the second fastest Class A time in history of 1:51.74, but set a new State Meet record. The only other Class A runner to have run a faster time is my friend Rob Carter who is the only 3 time boys State Champion in any class at the 800m race in Illinois.
