When I was completing I kept being told I had shin splints. They taped my shins and compressed them only to make them feel worse. I did my research and told them to rule out compartment syndrome. They had me tested and turns out I HAD compartment syndrome. I had to get 3 of the 4 compartments in my calf released.
I have found that this was seemingly uncommon in athletes and mainly occurred in people who received traumatic impacts to the forearm or lower leg. However there has been something like a 630% increase in the number of documented cases as of 2001 (based off of a research paper I wrote on it in 2005).
Check it out / rule it out, is all I’m saying
