…has anyone ever tried coaching thier long sprinters using the speed based method for the first part of you athletes careeer and then changing them over to the "Baylor" way once you feel or times indicate that relative speed gains are done.
That's an interesting question and I'd love to see how it worked out. Logistically it would be quite difficult to organize and structure practice but could produce great results. I know the LSU men's sprint team switched from a heavy tempo based program to a more speed based program last year and didn't have any dropoffs in performance.
