Its long been known that most countries nowadays only help countries that they can gain something from. In the middle east we are trying to set up a democracy, which by no stretch of the imgaination would make it easier for us to secure oil in the future. Unless Sudan finds a massive oil deposit or goes nuclear, chances are we won't step in to stop the Darfur genocide.
