I think when looking at this, one needs to look at more than physiological effect. Some people enjoy static stretching for psychological reasons as well. In any case, it appears that if the stretches are followed by dynamic activities that the negative effects of static stretching are at the least greatly diminished.
since their warmup is so long probably their muscles have time to regain what was lost with static stretching, i could be wrong. what do ya think?
