As we move into outdoors I’m assuming us northerners will be facing some longer travel plans than we did indoors. How do you deal with flying one day and racing the next?
I’m interested in how people would handle the time interval from de-planing to the start of competition. E.g. how (if at all) do warmup protocols change, length/substance of am “wake-up” session, pre-meet session the day before, etc.
Scenario: Following a couple flights, your athlete arrives in the competition city on Thursday, say 2:00 pm. Competition starts at noon on Friday. Assume you can get to the track and are able to use the facility at any time. Assume no weight room is available.
How would you change things if the athlete didn’t compete until Saturday, therefore having Friday at your disposal as well?
once you get in town i would head to the track and perform a quick warmup 2-3 starts and 5-10 med throws. If your meet is on sat i would let them rest on thursday then fri perform starts and throws if you must they could probably perform a quick warmup on thur but i would probably rest “whenever in doubt rest” JS
