mike: I think most people who don't monitor their protein intake typically get quite a bit less than what they think they're getting. This is particularly true for women who I've seen consume as little as 20g / day when left to their own devices.
i know exactly what you are talking about. i started the zone diet by Dr. Barry Sears a few months back. since i am dedicatd to the diet i realized that i only consumed 100g of protein when i really required 165g. protein shacks/bars definitly help with getting the right amounts.
