I use intervals first in the season to develop fitness, then focus on reps towards the end of the season (last 4 weeks leading into my peak races). I do neuro work at least once a week every week all year following a distance run. Fartleks are not really neuromuscular work. It is a run consisting of suges (anaerobic or high end aerobic). One phase of training is just that, one phase, you need to combine all elements to become a successful athlete.
