for the 200 I have read to accel so that you are hitting full speed then with 120 to go, I was under the impression of having them take out the first 50-60 then settle in until coming off the turn. That is why I asked. I know Ato Bolden had said that he really works the race between 50-150 and uses a more gradual accel pattern. For the 400 I have my guys blast the first 50-60 (6-7 seconds) and then relax trying not to lose speed until about 150-180 (depedning on fitness level) and then bring it home.
