I was going to blog about this too…
I view this as a joke; marketing in collegiate athletics is becoming synonymous with late night infomercials. I look at it as having gone from training, to entertainment, to babysitting. It’s garbage like this that makes me want to leave college strength and conditioning. I’ve noticed many sport coaches and athletes that are expecting entertainment now because of seeing these smoke and mirror shows.
Oh, it’s about recruiting they say? That seems to be dipping pretty low… at a hefty price tag. If you got it, spend it I guess.
Why not just put down a wrestling mat for some “fun” once or twice a year?
If all this is for motivation, I am insulted by these immature tactics… as should the athletes.
Effective is no longer cool – only cool is cool.
