I think when you prime yourself for a VJ by squatting 495lb for speed you are bound to get good results when you weigh 242! When your max strength is that high relative to body mass you should have sufficient power. I would have to agree with Chad.
Although Cressey makes an incorrect assumption in believing his friend has great athletic ability just because he’s an elite powerlifter who VJ’d 35 inches. How about something which takes coordination and speed like a one-footed jump. The VJ is a measure of relative power.
