5/27 Meet Day
Had a fairly horrible meet today for various reasons. For one, I’m sure that the driving for 7 hours the day before didn’t help, because I was too tired to do any kind of loosening up of my legs before I went to sleep that night, although I did do some light tempo the day before.
The meet was around 50F and slightly windy, not at all what I’m used to competing in in southern california. Additionally, the meet was on a rolling schedule where the 110s was the second event. However, before the 110s was all kinds of crazy masters races that no one seemed to know the distances for or the height of the hurdles etc. So I ended up running my race about 1.5 hrs after I was expecting to due to those delays. During the race, I had a pretty good start, but the recurring problem of having trail leg contact occurred again on the second hurdle, which caused me to fall behind significantly. Additionally, the hurdler on my right side was hitting hurdles into my lane about exactly where my trail leg comes down onto the track, so I had to elongate my trail leg step to avoid falling on my face, and ended up running 14.49.
5/28 rest day
5/29
decided to do speed hurdles today, but the insertion point of my hamstring into my gluteus was really hurting me this day so I decided to do flat sprinting instead, which didn’t bother me as much. Just ran
3×30 stand
3×30 blocks
4×60 with 7 minutes rest
Hammy was sore afterwards, but it doesn’t feel like I pulled it – its just really tight, so I’m trying to do a lot of contrast and foam rolling to lessen the tightness.
5/30 tempo
16×100
I have a meet at UCLA this weekend, and then got invited to the UK Olympic Trials, so I’ll probably be going to the trials around the 20th, and thats the whole of my competition schedule this year
