Everything’s going really well! I only ran 8.19 at that meet, but that’s ok, new and bigger plans are in the works. The short or is basically that I started training at the OTC Dec 10th, came back home for the holidays the 21st, and got back into San Diego a couple days ago.
The biggest differences between what I’d been doing and what I’m doing now are
A. Coach Poole can obviously critique my technique in real-time much better than I could myself.
B. Lower rests: we haven’t been going over about 30m, but the rests are much shorter than what I’m used to, which translated into being pretty sore that first week, but now (I think) I’m over it.
C. Being around elite athletes all the time puts me into a much more competitive mindstate than training by myself. Especially now, in the beginning, I want to impress everyone and also prove to myself that I deserve to train there.
