I think many people register for this site before they start reading posts, etc. Then once they do they realize that some members, even some of the advanced members, (at times) take an elitist attitude when people’s questions or responses aren’t quite up to their standards.
Check out UTFootball4’s posts in the Speed/Special Endurance in High School Athletes thread in the Training Theory section.
I know he’s smart and everything and has a ton of posts, but if new members are going to get big timed by people with Moderator status, they aren’t going to post questions or responses and risk getting belittled. especially by a ‘Moderator’ who, by conventional forum standards, should be the one taking the high road.
I have recommended this site many times to people and some of the less experienced coaches/parents, etc. have expressed that concern once digging into the content.
That said your site is great. I’ve been on and off it for years. I’m not complaining, I’m simply responding to the question you raised in your blog entry as I ran across it while I was reacquainting (sp?) myself with the site.
