If teams are using the YBT now, the key is to not add more time to the test but add more information. The higher levels of performance tend to have less time to train or need more information to take advantage of the time they have. This could be a simple as a video clip or something more extensive like wireless EMG and pressure mapping with the Pedar or Fscan system.
I do agree we are not looking for specific magic numbers, but some sort of root flag such as glaring data and trends. I have seen YBT tests that have 1.5 cm difference but dramatically different EMG or Pressure mapping profiles.
Teams are now faced with the reality of making decisions based on clear evidence, or go with very easy measurements and see if they hold up. So far all professional sports are getting murdered with injuries and most of it is because too many people want to play, but nobody wants to prepare.
Checklists are key, and so far I have not seen any screening system with good checklists that breakdown what they are trying to get qualitatively. Even the research list on the FMS is brief and vague, but I would argue that should be the starting point to Personal Training level work.
