Why do you not advocate plyos? Wouldn’t they benefit joe, who is a jumper not sprinter? I feel that the use of plyos in a jumpers program should be just as important if not more than weights.
I don’t like plyometrics for a number of reasons. First sprinting and the Olympic lifts are themselves plyometric in nature. I feel additional work is overkill and carries a substantial risk of injury. I also believe performance and progress are difficult to quantify accurately even with expensive analysis equipment. Finally, they are incredibly fatiguing to the CNS even in low volumes so they can easily be detrimental to performance.
However, I would never say ‘don’t do them’ as they’re not my area of expertise.
