The news story video of Sparta Science did a real diservice in describing their testing and diagnostic proccess, which is to be expected in a 5 minute local/regional news story, but it boiled down to “our athletes jump on a force plate”. I am sure they have a very complete testing battery and many more sophisticated diagnostic tools, but I thought most important part of the story was that the major physical contribution to Jeremy Lin’s success was increasing his strength and lean body mass. The philosophy for his training was developed from the work of strength and conditioning “guru” Sir Issaac Newton. Intelligent and creative testing and tracking is important to a successful strength and conditiong program and athletic performance and performance training is multifactorial, but a very intelligent person has been quoted as saying,
“Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.” – Albert Einstein
