We have our first competition in mid-January, with fall workouts starting in late August. I'd like to go into them in decent condition so that I can handle them, since my coach trains every athlete like a 400m runner, including TJers. Keeping that in mind, I also want to develop my rhythm and power in the TJ. You guys make a good point though, it is early so I can keep sprinting volume low and weights intensity moderate. Speed is an issue though so I'd like to keep some high intensity running in the plan. Maybe I replace the MaxV day with some mid-length hills for conditioning? I figure that keeping extensive tempo in the plan can at least get me to where I need to be, and maybe one day of hills can help me even more. Thanks for the help everyone.
