thanks so far for the replies and i suspect i am indeed one of few rugby players thinking about dorisflexion, on the other hand there seems to be an increasing amount of players seeking advice from track coaches in an attempt to beocme faster during off season, especially wingers like me.
JC – i will start to incorporate more core & hip work into my training, i had a suspicion that my core hasnt been strong enough although i thought i hit that hard enough squatting and deadlifting heavy?
interestingly enough to srengthen my tibia i have using resistance bands, practising dorsifelxing with them, which does seem to have helped.

They will develop hip power but you need to do some core stability exercises. I always thought weights were enough until recently when someone showed me i couldnt do simple core holds without shaking, and my squat + deadlifts are massive.
