University of Hawaii is on another Island!I don’t see that happening just for a track session, you have to take the plane to get there.
As far as I’m concerned, I haven’t been able to find a track nearby Kona last time I was there and there are none that I know of.
There are alot of short hills so that’s always a possibility and and there is a nice bicycle path(and not so busy with trafic) just by the sea on Alii Drive with flat areas and long and very low incline for speed sessions or tempo runs.
Ok you’ll have to run in flats but those are training sessions that you’ll never forget, believe me! and sometimes change is good.
In case you prefer to run on grass you could always go to a soccer field and run in spikes or golf course nearby but no spikes.
You can always do some pool running about waist deep,do some plyo or a session of skips for 30-60 meters for example to mix things up.
Also, there is a pretty decent gym in Kona called Pacific Gym just up the hill from where you’ll be.
There’s a Vitamin Shoppe 2 minutes from there if you don’t want to carry supplements with you or if you need any while you’re there, that’s where the best deals are on the island. As everything is substantialy more expensive in Hawaii(except for local fruits, veggies, coffee, nuts and fish)it’s always a good thing to know a place or two…since you’ll most probably eat restaurant most of the time I guess.
There’s a Costco and WM nearby too if you need some more food in between restaurant meals.
Hope this will help…
Be ready for a life changing experience when you go there!Enjoy![/quote]
