Trust me Danny, running with my club I can tell you that it's much better to have a training partner than to not have one. The competition you guys give each other works wonders for improvements (as long as you're not trying to punch it EVERYDAY in practice). Even if they aren't AS fast as you are, you'll get pushed with them behind you and they'll get pushed trying to catch you. It's great.
BTW – on a somewhat related note — the girl that was running 58/59 all year but ran a 56 at peak last year with whom I was mostly training with just punched a 56.5 at the meet Saturday and we still have JO's, Regions and Nats left. Think maybe she improved with me pushing her?????
