I started doing some weight training cause my vertical was not going up anymore from doing sprints and plyos.
I was stuck at around 28 inches, then I read somethings on the internet and started squatting. Cause of school, I missed out on plyos but during the summer I can pick it up again.
Why not do weight training? And I was wondering am I too heavy to jump?
Same reason Dennis mentions – you’ve got a lot of time, and this age is about learning events, seeing what you do and don’t like, and developing proper technique. You don’t need a lot of weights at this time, bc your strength will develop naturally, and your bones are also still growing and could more easily sustain damage due to overloading from heavy weights.
Plyos – Not all that necessary, bc if you are training some, you will get tons of jumping from that.
You’re not too heavy – though definitely on the heavy side for your age.
