I was thinking a little more about your question on how we can train athletes to handle the loads necessary to takeoff most efficienntly. I think ideally, if an athlete is taught how to setup a takeoff correctly early on in their development, then no added training will be necessary. This is because the physical capacities necessary to set up the takeoff correctly will progress gradually and simultaneously with their increases in speed and power as long as they continue to practice correct takeoff mechanics.
