Ok that’s what I thought.
I actually think a large majority of coaches at all levels of competition struggle with how to motivate athletes. Some are naturally good at motivating, but for most coaches its a matter of how they deal with all the individual differences that come about when people age and therefore has little impact on athletes at the collegiate level.
Those athletes with better intrinsic motivation will improve more in college. Also I think the younger the training age in the sport the higher the intrinsic motivation is.
