Again very short on time but I never said technique was poor. I haven’t had the time to read all posts but I assume neither did Nick. In fact I think it is quite good….better than 90+% of all clean videos out there.
Sorry to put words in your mouth, my mistake, but you are wrong. Nick admitted that it was:
That particular lift your all talking about also happened to be pretty much the worst technical clean i’ve ever done.
Which knowing that your athlete is willing to recognize it, and you as a seasoned olympic lifting and track coach are not, is embarrassing. Please do not let your experience and education delude the fact that you are more than capable of having an athlete perform a mediocre, and possibly dangerous, lift. That would further reduce what I think of your coaching ability (not that you care, but I do). Have done it before, probably will have it happen again, because none of us is perfect.
And to consider the fact that it’s better than 90% of the clean videos out there is a simple comparison. My lifting is better than 90% of the videos out there but that does not put me anywhere past the intermediate level. Davan’s videos are better than 90% out there but the recognition of the fact that his form needed work and the willingness to perform said work is what has helped him improve further. Hopefully you can do the same.
