Can someone explain to me in detail how to perform A skips and B skips.
A and B Skips

from my understanding, Sanya's is closer to a proper B skip and Asafa's is overexaggerated.
Sanya's looks more like a max velocity mechanics, which would be a B skip, correct? As for Asafa's B skip, at what point would your leg extend 65-70 degrees in front of your body? Looks more like a lead leg hurdle drill to me.

I think posture and dorsi-flexion are good to cue during these drills. I hate seeing toes drag, heads down, butts out, etc.

When I first started using the drills I was a little more strict about form. I like them for dynamic warm up and building in/displaying (diagnostic) movement qualities/patterns as mentioned above. One of the biggest things I've changed though is shaping the movement towards things I like to see, but above all else keeping the movement relaxed and free flowing. When I start working with the majority of people, the ability to relax while moving the limbs and applying force is seriously lacking.

Haha, I love teaching freshman the a skip because I have certainly seen some interesting variations. Also, it is a good cue for me as a coach to what kind of athlete I am dealing with. Triple jumpers always have their own variation, while athletes with less than perfect backside mechanics will try to raise the heel, then the knee. There are numerous correlations between how a person will initially a skip to their running mechanics.

CW, i agree completely with both of your comments. I recently started working with a group of HS soccer players and one guy definitely stands out the most. He has tested better than the other guys and his ability to execute new drills is much better. One of his teammates is on the other end of the spectrum though. I have to hold back from cringing at times, but it will be a pleasure watching him progress.
