So i have had the new Adistar LJ spikes for 2 weeks now…

The first time i wore them in training (2 weeks ago) the right shoe caused a blister/ cut on my heel. I wore them again to day to break them in a little more. I love the spike, they feel perfect up until about 3 minutes into it. Then the same thing happened. So quickly switched back to old spikes…

What can i do? Will this change the more i wear them? Why doesn’t it happen on both feet?

Shall i stick some thick padding in the back? Although the fit is so tight i don’t know if i could do that…

sucks becuase they are very nice spikes…

Can’t you try to individualize the spot that is giving trouble? Sometimes a “polishing” is necesary or it could be related to the way you walk.

We are an Adidas school and get all our apparel from them. Most all there spike have a lot of stiff support around the heel and upper foot for some reason or another.

I and my athletes have found this method to work.

          Draw a hot bath.
Put on the shoes w/ no socks
Stand/Walk around in the hot bath for about 15 minutes
          Let shoes dry

Softens them up and molds them to your foot nicely

I have my athletes do this every fall in our schools warm tube when we get new spike. This has stopped all complaints.

          Genius!!!

          Are you serious first?

I have a hot jecuzzi in my apartment complex and i will be in in a second if your serious lol..

shall i take the spikes out first…obviously right?

          haha….

Yeah I’m serious… why would I lie about this??

yeah spikes out unless you want to jack up your jacuzzi

We do this right out of the box before they even put spikes in.

I learned this when I was a decathlete and my HJ and Jav boots would mess with my heel. I like my spikes TIGHT too. I am a 12 1/2 training but wear a 11 1/2 spike. After that worked, I did this will all of my spikes

Was kinda fun, got a lot of funny looks as well…

but i did it…i will see if it’s worked tomorrow…i really hope it did.

          Thanks TrkNFld!

And those spikes likely won’t be ready by tomorrow. spikes take FOREVER to dry.

I never heat dried them because I was always afraid of cracking or softening any glue used

Its a bit late for this pair but for future reference, slightly wadded up newspaper put in the shoes, loosely stuffed, and frequently changed will speed the shoe drying process without the heat risk (when the paper comes out only just damp is the time to just let air dry do the rest) oh, and leaving them out in the direct sun for hours is NOT a good idea either, I have had shoes and gloves (incl baseball) become either so stiff or shrink enough to be useless!

Ok so Adidas spikes didn’t work at all…2 reasons why…1) i couldn’t fit my insoles in them becuase they were too shallow and 2) becuase the angle of the sole of the shoe was the opposite of what my ankle needs to stay pain free…

          Nike spikes work great…However, i still don’t like Nike…

Does anyone have the Asics or Puma LJ spikes? ? ? ? ? Can you tell me if they are deep enough to fit an insole in AND is the sole angled at all or just flat?

          Thanks!
