    Advice on training

          My track no longer has a head coach/sprint coach. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we can do light plyo’s and running drills with the girls track team, Monday Wednesday Friday we are invited to lift and do plyo’s with our throwers coach

          So basically my schedule looks like this.

          Monday- Lift/plyos
          Tuesday- Running drills/light plyos
          Wednesday- Lift/plyos
          Thursday-Running drills/light plyos
          Friday-Lift/plyos

          I’ve been doing this for around 2-3 weeks, almost no actual sprinting ever. When we get a head coach(who knows when that will be) we will probably start running. But until then, do you think this is a good schedule, or some days should I stray away and try to run else where.

          Also, during winter break, there is no practice and I’m almost fully recovered from a recent sickness, what type of workouts should I be doing?

          Unfortunately, I have no access to an outdoor track, being in northern Illinois, it’s pretty cold. Though I have access to a weightroom and a small indoor track

          135 pounds
          Not very strong. bad block starts

          You should be able to find access to a basketball court and perform short sprints 10-25 reps of 10-25m, with tons of mb throws and starts. I would also push the weights with tons of squats, pc, jump squats, depth jumps, rdl and glut hams. I would also perform 2-3 days of tempo work, pool, mb circuit, bb circuit, treadmill runs. if you can a version of the old CAD program would work great.

          Yup am already doing those weights and am noticing an increase of strength, and when I’m fully recovered I’ll go to my local gym. What days should I replace to do different running workouts

          Find a school hallway or a gym to sprint in. Doing nothing but running drills and lifting won’t prepare you to sprint very well.

          You could likewise run stairs as a lead in to maxV running when you get the chance.

          Tempo work can be simulated a variety of ways as UT suggested.
