I just might buy a set.

The only thing that irks me is the fixed block angle.

          Thoughts?

I’ve got a pair of similar cheap ones. Honestly…don’t waste your money unless you are a novice and don’t know how to start out of blocks. You are better off saving up for a better pair or waiting until you find a good pair on e-bay.

If you are worried about not being able to practice out of blocks then that is really only a minor obstacle. I think power out of the blocks is more efficiently trained through exercises like medball accels anyway. If you have a place that will let you use blocks every once in awhile to make yourself comfortable and familiar in them then you should be set.

If you want some crap blocks to putz around with there are a pair on ebay for .99 right now – https://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Gill-Starting-Block_W0QQitemZ160384712549QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2557ac7f65#ht_500wt_1182

I’d take some foam rubber and glue it on the metal and bam, just as good as the $50 ones above

I agree spend some more money to get some quality blocks that will suit you better if your trying to sprint seriously.

Last year Everythingtrackandfield.com had a sale on these: https://www.everythingtrackandfield.com/detail.aspx_Q_ID_E_2831_A_CategoryID_E_356 and I picked up a set for about $90 after shipping. They work pretty well. I think they’re having a free shipping promotion for Christmas, so for an extra $40 you can get much better blocks than the ones you’re looking at.

          Those look really nice.

Thanks everyone. I’ve decided i’m going to go with blocks in the 100+ range like that one.

Is it worth buying starting blocks? i feel like i cant do good accelerations in training because i feel slow without them, and also dont get to practise with them.
