More than Money- By Paul GrahamI know a handful of super-hackers, so I sat down and thought about what they have in common. Their defining quality is probably that they really love to program. Ordinary programmers write code to pay the bills. Great hackers think of it as something they do for fun, and which they’re delighted to find people will pay them for.Great programmers are sometimes said to

Does this have anything to do with sports performance or track and field?

Its rather metaphorical but pretty spot on in regards to training philosophy and the difference between coaches who do it for a paycheck and know enough to get the job done, or the coaches who have such a serious love for the sport that it doesn’t matter where they are as long as they get to do it, and they generally do amazingly well with often limited means.
At least thats where I went with it.
For all I know he is trying to convince us not to use python, but I like it for the much easier memory management 🙂

python is a wonderful and very portable programming language. It had byte code long before Java. Java is a beast, much like the way MS is seen as a beast. However, for commercial grade applications in 1998 and 1999, NT was a suitable platform. NT was in fact improved by Windows 2000. However, to harness one self to one technology for everything is bound to cause heartache. The AS/400 isn’t exactly the most secure computer on the planet and not even close, but it’s the best platform to serve data from because it can handle thousands of connections at a time. The right tools for the right job.
