Yeah Coach Banta, tell me about it! Winter weather has been brutal for many certainly.

I liked your YT video presentation as well as the snapshot you provided of workout drills and such. We have a problem that coincides throughout the full season, regardless of circumstances and significance of the program.

The video below, though only reflects one specific work unit, gives you an idea of concern I generally have with things in close proximity to the work area (e.g., flying basketballs).

Though this was prior to states, it would be extremely difficult to accomplish with a group the size of yours. You’re doing a wonderful job with what you can this season.

Price thanks for sharing! It’s amazing what you can get done! I do like the quick leg progressions you had in your video. What day of the week or theme of training would you use these drills?

Appreciate the comment Coach Banta. Typically this is second part of the NM coordination work unit that opens our HI sprint session. Our athletes neither jog or static stretch to open practice sessions. When necessary either the bike/body circuit or effleurage/dynamic stretching/tempo run is implemented in its’ place.

Given that we typically trained six days a week during this period, this session followed two relatively easy days with one being a complete rest day. With these athletes the theme is basically speed development combined with technical assessment during a state championship preparation period. You would hope that the latter has an advanced look at this stage of the season and time spent more on quantitative and less marginal issues.

On the day of the referred video, these girls followed that work unit with short contrast accelerations, block work and a vvO2max unit. They both have an off-site free weight training scheme that typically follows this session. Since this was performed within the divisional state championship period, this session was practically implemented five times over two weeks. Recovery between reps and work units was extended 2-3 times that of earlier season sessions.

I know too much information, right?
