I've been doing some research lately (Di Pasquale, Berardi, Colgan, etc) and it seems that pre workout BCAA supplementation is a pretty good idea (i.e., well supported). Especially 203 gm of Leucine. Does anyone have any experience with the BCAA's or Luecine.

Also has anyone used Ulitmate Nutrition BCAA or Glutamine? If so, please share your experiences. I've heard that they're good, but they also make 2-3 Andro/prohormone prodcuts and it doesn't take much to get cross contamination for a positive test.

yeah just finished reading Berardi's article on Pre and Post workout supplementation of BCAA. came up with the same questions?
here is the link for those interested:
          https://www.johnberardi.com/articles/nutrition/puzzle_2.htm

I have ordered L-carnitine in the past from ulitmate nutrioin and it said USP certifed on the label. so that may ease your mind a little about contamination fears

I was religously taking glutamine 10-20 grams daily last year and last summer. When i got to school i cycled off it and noticed no negative effect on my recovery. However i know this is off topic but when i recently cycled off my ZMA and i couldnt recover from my workouts like before.
As far as BCAA's are concerned i feel that anyone that uses a decent protein supplement is getting all they need.

i agree like Phoenix has said many times, supplements are the bark of the tree, not the foundation, so healthy and natural eating is allways going to produce positive results. but it couldnt hurt to experiment if you follow the guidelines 😉

on a side note QUIK when you are not taking your zma do you take any type of protien in before you go to bed at night.

          WHAT'S INSIDE MARION ?

Here's Marion Jones' current supplement regimen, based on her specific blood profile as designed by Victor Conte of Balco Labs.

          PREWORKOUT
          600mg L-phenylalanine
          600mg tyrosine
          10mg vitamin B6
          100mcg chromium – (as polynicotinate)
          2mg copper – (as sebacate)

PS Nice article in Carl's website!!!

          9000,
Not directly before but i usaly eat a small meal around 1-2 hours before bed. What are you suggesting?

          look at the math….

          if a 10.68 guy goes 10.62 it's not huge…

          if a 9.95 goes 9.89 it is a big deal….

supplements are far more powerfull at higher levels but don't have the impact at lower speeds. I would use Gpush or BCAA before and during long workouts (more then 2 hours)

would this be for the 10.68 guy or just the 9.95 guy? or both?

          QUIK-
i was just wondering how much of a difference that the ZMA makes, so i was seeing if the incresed protein intake (leading to faster recovery) caused by the ingredents, or was due to a protein drink before bed time.

Just as a note if you want to you can take ZMA 30-40 minutes before bed and then drink a protein shake 2 minutes before and their shouldn't be too much of an absorption problem.

Publsihed research shows that consuming BCAA's (or just leucine) post workout is the best timing. REgardless of whether you are a 10 flat or 15 flat. Also consumption of essentail amino's psot workout is good. For youngsters they should be taken with some carbo's while us old guys should take them without carbo's. This is from other publsihed studies.

The keyworkout is the cake and the nutrients are the icing on the cake.
