I am now starting to rethink things as I sit back and wait until December to really train.
For now I am doing acc. dev. 1x a week, Int. Tempo one time and hills 1x. I might even drop the Int. Tempo after awhile and do hills 2x or start using split runs.
But, my real question is how to train a 400m runner in terms of periodization. Is it better to go short-to-long or long-to-short?
I am deciding on the best way as I have been thinking about it and the specific endurance needs of 400m sprinters, to me, seems to call for a long-to-short scheme.
Any thoughts on this? Does anyone want to tell what the micros look like for each phase going long-to-short?
