I couldn’t help but notice a very very respected coach at the this years World Championship. I believe he took 6 or so athletes there and 5 of the 6 athlete performed very poorly compared with early season and previous season results.
It begs the question…Is it a great training program which peaks the athlete or is it the mind set and mental strength of the athlete which peaks them for a certain meet? Likely a combination of both but which is most important?
Either that or can certain athletes just not do well in a certain program no matter how “great” the coach is? If yes, then is it great coaching or just great athlete selection or just a great athlete?
Who wins, a great coach with a medioca athlete or a medioca coach with a great athlete?
