Both are highly dependent on genetics.
THAT was a racist comment, because you assume there is a a diffence in intelligence that takes racial lines. When all factors are considered, i.e. financial background, level of expectations, parental influence, environment, the differences between the races begin to dissappear in IQ tests….but not in sprinting. BIG difference.
You need to learn the difference between a comment, statement, and question. Reading comprehension would also be a bonus to work on, given that you missed the point of the post entirely. You also need to learn to not go from zero to guns drawn in an instant
Let’s have a lesson by example, as they work so well with my students maybe there will be some carryover.
First, you cherry picked my quote and only took what you wanted before calling me racist. Here’s the full quote:
But why isn’t it racism when you point out that one race can dominate certain athletic events, but it would be racism to say one race is superior when it comes to intelligence? Both are highly dependent on genetics.
BTW- i like arguing for the sake of arguing. I don’t actually believe that any race is superior when it comes to the capacity to learn
But you left the bottom part out as it didn’t jibe with your attack.
Here is a proper reply, one that doesn’t personally attack even though there is disagreement.
I don’t think it’s racist, but very touchy subject. Most people can handle being physically worse than other groups of people, but saying some have less intelligence would make anyone feel very inferior.
I remember I heard about a scientist who was also a Nobel prize winner said black people had inferior intelligence. He was set to have a talk about it, but obviously wasn’t allowed to go ahead.
I think it’s racist that we are smarter than cats.
It furthered the discussion without attacking. The funny thing is, I agree that there are certain anthropometric advantages that are more likely to be found in certain populations for specific events/sports.
This is a board where we are supposed to be able to have adult conversations. There is a reason so many people have left the boards and its because people like you just make it a sour place to be on.
Josh, you’re quite the hippocrite. My original reply was a general comment addressed to no one person and I didn’t quote anyone. I did mention Callum, but he had made a very offensive comment about the U.S.
You responded directly to me and called my comment, which I still stand by, ridiculous. Interestingly, in your last post you now concede my point…that there are genetic advantages within those of West African descent. Secondly, the comment I didn’t include had to do with learning, not IQ, so let’s clear it up. Do you or do you not think blacks have, on average, lower IQs than Caucausians? If you say they do, then my original reply to that comment stands. If not, I apoligize for misunderstanding what you wrote.
I don’t suffer fools very well, I admit, but if you’re going to challenge someone who simply made a straightforward comment that was not intended to offend anyone, and use a term like ridiculous, then put your gloves on because I’m not going to let that crap pass. As far as reading comprehension, reread my first post and tell me which part specifically you disagree with, having now admitted that genetic advantages are in fact present which still give those of West African descent a serious leg up on caucasions.
Id like you to point out where I denied the advantage of WA sprinters in the first place.
Reading comprehension. Work on it.
