I don’t know if this has been discussed before, perhaps someone can point me to the right thread if so.
I wanted to discuss the benefits of periodising the track work for a sprinter with several years experience. In this case, a large GPP is probably not necessary. Is there a benefit to training acceleration first, then max v, then speed endurance (as in a S-L programme) as opposed to hitting all three aspects in each week/microcycle from the beginning of the training year? I have read a coach in the UK say that you can adapt to more than one stimulus in a session, which logic would dictate that all three aspects can be improved concurrently.
Thoughts???
