When I was taking the liquid Id take 2-3 table spoons in the AM and 2-3 before bed. You may want to take the cpsuls in the AM since even the flavored fish oils dont taste to great. You can even throw the oil in a protein shake.

I wouldn’t recommend mixing Fish oils in a protein shake unless you like fishy tasting shakes. Flax seed oil, while not as beneficial is much more palatable for shakes. The only way I’ve found fish oils to be palatable is in capsule form.

Mike,
How much fish oil and when would you take it? (In capsule form).I just got “Zone Perfect” today and it says 4 capsules. Should I break up the dose or take it all at once with breakfast or dinner?

To be honest with you I don’t know much I was taking. I’ve used a variety of brands and have always taken half of the recommended dosage. The only reason I do this is because I eat quite a bit of freshly caught (not farm raised) seafood. I ussually took it with lunch unless I forgot in which case I’d take it with dinner but again I didn’t have any real rationale for this other than it being the most convenient time for me.

why not as beneficial?

why not as beneficial?
The two key parts of fish oils are EPA and DHA. They have been associated with gains in lean mass, and loss in fat as well as decreased inflamation. Flax contains no EPA or DHA, so the liver must convert lineolic acid into these substances. The mechanism in which lineolic acid is converted is highly inefficient, and yields only about 20-30% of useful product from where it started.
This is not to say that flax is bad; it is, in fact, a very useful supplement which has been associated to increased testosterone levels and decreased cholesterol levels. I would certainly use both flax and fish oils to attain my daily Omega-3 quota, but I would use primarily fish oils as it is the most efficient way to take in enough DHA/EPA.

You should take between 1-10 grams of fish oil per day.. most people stick with 1 or 2 grams.
