Yea. i know elzie pretty well. He ran for my region at Empire state games. The kid keep improving more and more every yr and has a bright future.
In his 45.92 record he went out in 21.7 and the 200 meter record was 21.5. That just goes to show the level he is at. He also anchored Newbergs 4×400 the other night at easterns and split 46.4 even though 2 guys tried cutting him off almost causing him to fall and run out in lane 3 to pass them back. He has also posted a 33.2 300 this year.

          interesting bit about Elzie:

NY Elzie Coleman suspended after brawl at school
Newburgh Free Academy NY sr Elzie Coleman, who was having a sensational season on the track, missed the Penn Relays after being arrested in a gang rumble and suspended from school. Police and school officials said the fight involved 150 students and was triggered by a stabbing at the school the day before. Coleman and football star Nathan Holmes, who were involved in the major fist fight, were charged with disorderly conduct and other students were driven home by police. According to news report, Coleman broke away from police and charged Holmes a second time, similar to an earlier arrest at another school fight in December. Writing in the local newspaper, the Times Record Herald, Ben Montgomery wrote, "He is something of a hero here . . . the girls love him, openly or otherwise.Junior high students drop his name to win points with their friends." Montgomery said a police officer said, " "Some people don't want him to succeed. They'd rather see him fail." Coleman set a national record for the indoor 400 meters with a time of 45.92 at Simplot in February and doubled in the 200 and 400 at Arcadia this month.

Wow, I guess kids will be kids. I don't know what the fight was about, but ain't no way in the world, if I had his talent, would I get into some stupid crap like that. I have to learn to keep my cool now, and I'm not even half as good as he is.

C'mon Elzie, get your head on straight, dogg. Ain't nobody worth it, man.

Is he still going to be able to run this summer or what?

I saw that bit on dyestat as well. Very interesting…just shows that no matter how amazing an athlete one is, or how bright a future they have, there are still so many factors that can bring them down. Hopefully he comes off this suspension in the right frame of mind and doesn't let this situation (with the other kid) to become worse. I'm guessing his talents athletically FAR exceed the kid whom he threw down with.

          As a related topic. . .

Me being from Cleveland, OH I don't know how many of you have heard about this but. . .

Raymond Williams (All American running back and runner up to Ted Ginn for Ohio Mr. Football) was arrested for attempted murder the other day. The story goes, he and 2 football buddies tried to rob someone with a fake gun. The alleged victim pulled a real gun and shot one of the guys. Now Raymond Williams did not pull the trigger because he was the one doing the robbing, not the other guy, but they say he may still face those charges because what him and his friends did was cause of this to happen. Needless to say that UWV revoked his scholarship. Sad sad situation because he was legitimately one of America's best RB's and one of many of Ohio's blue chippers.

Dagov, Ray Williams was Mr. Football for Ohio, Tedd Ginn was runner up I think.

There was a sprinter in our area, who was runner up in the 100 and 3rd placei n the 200 in Division 2, His name was tyvaughn Harris pbs of 10.8 (10.9 FAT) and 21.9 FAT and is currently in court for assault and robbery after beating a pizza boy with a baseball bat and taking hte money and pizza. The obsurd thign was that the school was gonna LET him run if it wasn't for him becoming acedemically ineligable for the season.

Yeah, as I got done typing I realized that he was in fact Mr. Football.

Anyway, I've heard of TyVaughn Harris. What school does he go to?

Yeah I've ran on BW's track a few times. To be honest I don't like it much. For one, everytime I ran there I ran slow, except for once. And that one time was a bad experience within itself.

          I don't think Elzie's fight affected him that much….
