The intermittent fasting for dummies thread talks about implementing fasting as an everyday event and is something I don’t see plausible with my schedule and my caloric needs for the day.
I’ve Been looking into periodic fasting and how it can be implemented into training. I’m not really for complete fasting. I’m thinking more along the lines of natural vegetable and fruit juicing and maybe some granola/nuts/seeds for a few days strategically placed before a competition. Just a simple cleansing to loose any unnecessary weight and just feel clean and clear.
Does anyone have any experience with this type of idea? How long should it be? what sort of training can you do on that type of diet? How far out should it be before competition? is there a recovery time? Could you loose too much muscle mass for it to be beneficial?
I’m no stranger to general nutrition and this is just an idea.
Any help or discussion would be greatly appreciated.
