Thought I would come to our experts with this one.
Last season it seems like we had a lot of quad dominant kids. We screen all of our kids for muscular imbalances at the start of the year (quad:hamstring and left:right legs).
I’d like to hear your thoughts on full squats v. half squats. Would going to a full squats help to alleviate some of our quad dominance? Since the glute and ham really aren’t innervated until the thigh drops below parallel, it seems like it would make sense to past a half-squat. I know that we couldn’t load kids too heavily due to increased injury risk. It also seems like we would increase the ROM of the athlete as well.
Thoughts on this?
