    "Fun" Track Workouts

          We are on spring break this week and we only have about 5-7 of our sprinters around during the week. They’ve worked really hard throughout the week and I’d like to reward them by doing some type of “fun” workout at the end of the week.

          Does anybody have any suggestions that high school aged kids might like to do – that would be fun and different from the norm, but yet still give them a workout?

          Any input would be appreciated!

          im a high school aged athlete and i know what myself personally and alot of others i no like for fun work outs, relays. we’ve done in the past 4×50’s 4×100’s and 4×200’s all are a good time and can give a decnt work out if u mix them together kinda like a pyramid.

          personally what they do at our school is we play soccer sometimes playing pinnie tag, british bulldog, 4 x50 relays, and circuits can be fun too.

          (personally i think squats and olympic movements are fun) [im trying to brainwash myself]

          do you have any parachutes?? try to get 2 races of 200m going on. i myself am a high schooler and like to do that. we might be doing that this upcoming week. umm short relays are always fun. anything more than 200 meters isn’t fun 🙁 umm.. yea.. i can’t think of something.

          Touch Football.

          Get them to take training. You still have control, but give them some parameters and let them try.

          It is not fun necessarily, but there is a change of attitude

          “Relays” on the straightaway. Line up several evenly matched teams of 4. Two kids are at the start line, 2 are 50m down the track. The relay is run shuttle-hurdle style. You could have the teams do 3-5 cycles and then rest. It would be a fun workout for short speed endurance.
