I see greats like Justin Gatlin, Shawn Crawford, Maurice Green, etc. I think to myself these are the worlds elite. But they were in high school once and they didnt always have world calss times. I just want to know what it takes to get there. I know hard work, no one knows hardship and dedication like I do, but I just want to know what sets them apart from the rest, is it genetics, natural ability, hard work or all of the above.
get on my level

I think what set them there is how bad they want it,the will to be there..
Maurice had many jobs before..heworked at a cafe,selling tickets…
He wanted to be a milionare without sitting behind a disk or some boaring job like that.In atlanta he was sitting waching the final where Donovan Bailey won the gold,he was crying…
In sydny he was also crying, but this time it was the tears of glory…

hOW CAN I GET THERE
-
TRAINING WISE CAUSE I DIFINTLY WANT IT
-
If you are allready training, workin hard and right than you will need to belive in yourself man, thats so important…
I mean look at the final in athens, allof them who was there have great bodeys, great coaches and great training programmes…But the mind is the most important..
There is no limits but the limits you make for your self…If you really think and belive that you can get there than no one can stop you
YOU can get there..
By the way what are your pb??your age??

this is all my time and distances from my freshman year. Ive been training hard the past year and don’t know if they’ve gon down. I’ve ran 23 seconds in the 200 in practice for reps we did ten I did all under 25. -
i figure if i can hit sub 11 by the time i graduate high school, i can get to the olympics in 4-8 years. as for how to get there, you need it all: genetics, hard work, right plan, right execution.
incidentally that coincides with the ‘peak’ ages of track performance according to a few authors.
destiny is coming…

Nick, if you are really serious about that willpower you have and combine it with those blazing times at 16, then it probably wont be long until that becomes a 10.97 in Beijing 2008. Its all about the hard work and pushing yourself the extra step beyond others to put you right up there with the big guys
-
oh and i see youre from florida, so whats your name since that 10.97 as a 9th grader is probably raising some eyebrows.
