This thread leads me to ask for some speculation on how much I could improve my 100-200 times starting college.
A history of my running:
Started track Junior year of high school, and mostly just screwed around on the high jump pit. Its cushy! I did manage to run an 11.96 at the last meet of the year though, in addition to a 24.5 or so 200 and a in around 56.5.
Senior year of Highschool- For some reason i got serious about track and ran year round in kind of a general don’t-get-fat kinda way. Yknow, running like a mile or two a few times a week. I started actual training about a month prior to the majority of a team (There were a few kids on my team that were going to New York for NSIC to run for fun, and they were training so I joined them). Over the course of the year I dropped my 100 time to 11.44, 200 time to 23.36, and 400 to 52.3. My training program included no weights, and I’m horrible out of blocks (Unvariably the last one out of them and the first one to stand up, not to mention just horrible starting form in general).
Now I’m in my freshman year of college. I’m trying to set some realistic goals for my performance this year, and I believe that I can run around a 10.8 100m, a 22.0 200, and maybe a 50.0 400. Do you think that with an improvement in my blocks (and there is a LOT of room for improvement) in addition to weight lifting and more intense training overall that these goals are realistic? And why or why not?
