Good one, Quincy was the Jeremy Wariner of the day, only better. Had one great year and that was it.

I remember the ’91 World Champs, Quincy dislocated his jaw in the semi finals, throwing up after his leg of 4×4, came back to run the next day in the finals.

Wladyslaw Kozakiewicz — Polish Vaulter who won the Gold in 1980 wilth a then world record jump of 18′ 11 1/2″

Was locked in a titanic dual with the Russian Volkov and was just being ridden by the Russian fans. After the winning vault, he pops up in the pit and gives the crowd the “up yours” move with the hand slap to the inside of the opposite elbow and the raised clenched fist.

It doesn’t get much better than that to shut up a hostile crowd!

I believe he passed away a few years ago.

I believe 330 or so for world record.

          I can’t find any winners who’s name start with a ‘Z’.

Zhu Jianhua (CHN) (World High Jump record-holder in 1984 at 2.39m) won Bronze in the HJ in LA 1984…that is about as close as it gets for the ‘Zs’…

I thought the topic was only about Olympic Gold medallists, but it doesn’t actually say that int he first message, so Quickazhell you are correct, there has been a Gold medallists on the ‘World scene’ whose name started with a ‘Z’:

Zdzislaw Hoffmann (POL) (Won Gold medal in the the Men’s Triple Jump in the 1983 Helsinki WCH)
