Is it good for sprinters to run and train on grass for while before they hit the rubber track..in straightening and conditioning…does it actually help??
it can be useful to run predominantly on grass during the beginning of your training cycle and also to run on grass ocassionly throughout the season because it just provides a more cushioning surface for your legs and therefore has less 'jarring effects'. Do the bulk of your work on the track after you've developed a base but really grass is fine for completing workouts on – BUT watch for pot holes otherwise you'll roll an ankle lol
I like grass runs but I prefer to not do any true speed work on it. The surface is uneven and unpredictable and the softness of the surface while great for warmups, cooldowns, and tempo, makes for a less than ideal surface for speed work because the amortization phase is lengthened.
