I’m the head coach of a boys high school track team. The girls coach and I were talking about what we can do to improve the performance of our kids. We feel our training methods are sound and the kids are physically “fit” enough to perform at there best, but we are constantly fighting self doubt. This is most rampant with the girls and boys distance runners.
We understand that girls need to feel like we care about them and want them to perform well. We spend a lot of time building them up. I have the feeling that the kids are afraid to try something in the case they make a mistake.
What do you guys do to help yet your kids mentally prepared for competing at their best?
