Yesterday was our District Finals. I advanced in the 100 with ease (11.18 FAT) but my 200 was another story.
They seeded me in lane 8 after a rather horrible Semi-Final Run. As soon as they said I had lane 8 I just thought to myself, “well there goes the 200 for my senior season”
But as soon as I got into my lane I changed my mind, this isn’t the way I want my senior season in the 200 to end, not now it isn’t meant to end now, so I knew what I had to do and busted my balls on that curve so nobody could have a chance of making up a stagger on me-only one person did and he’s a defending state champ.
I ended up getting 2nd in the 200 Final, something nobody expected from a kid who has lane 8, a lane that if you are in you are completely written off for top 4, but I showed them that I could do anything.
My time? Oh yea, it was 22.86 FAT, the first time EVER for me running sub-23 FAT.
That race showed me that it doesn’t matter what lane I am in, I can do anything.
It’s amazing what you can do when you know this is your last season of High School track, It makes you hungrier to keep your season alive the longest and wakes up a beast within you that you didn’t know you had.
