I say just go for it with all your might…do the BEST you can do that is all you can do…Think of fear maybe as your enemy and beat it at the finish line.I have’t personally raced yet but plan on it..i am 32years old and want to be in the olympics and the fear of failure creeps up on me a lot…But then the fear just pushes me more..Hope i have helped in some way and i hope you do awsome ..

Everyone is nervous when they toe the line, step in ring, or on the run way or apron, it’s the body’s natural response to the stimulus of the event. What you want to learn is how to harness that energy so that you don’t fritter away energy best spent on the event. You need to learn how to ration out your psychic rersources so that they are available throughout the competition.

You can’t like failure, but you cannot fear it because fear will cause hesitation and hesitation will make your fear come true. Find out why competition is a good thing because without competition you’ll never reach your best.

Experience is a good teacher and so are experienced competitors-seek them out and learn their methods and adapt them to your personality and talents.

          Good luck

its perfectly natural man, i felt the same thing when i traiend myself and when i had a good few months under my belt and my first indoor meet came around, i too was nervous wondering if my training was successful or not. My training times indicated i improved but there was still that littlem an in the back of my mind. Well needless to say i took HALF a second off my 60 time from 8.0 to 7.5 FAT. its all mental yes you’ll have fear but you gotta realize “hey i didn’t work this hard to choke, i gotta get my ass in gear and haul it out there in my lane with ALL GUNS A BLAZIN’. One thing that overcomes fear is motivation. Listen to music, give yourself some motivating words and post the trahs talk that youro pponents do on internet boards on your room wall to constantly remind you of why you train- to get better and to shut both your competitors and your doubters up.

Now that I have really improved, i’m a hunted man by the sprinters in my county. when track comes rolling around they will be after my head. I train so they will never be ab;e to catch me and so i can finally be THE TOP DOG not in my county, district, or regional or league, but in my division in my state….

For me i am not scared of failure, because everyone esle has to take the sma echance. I am not scared of loosing, and i will always be like this. At the moment i am very angry, and i am filt up with rage, but it is controled.

This is part of being a athlete, the possiblity of being disappointed, i say just go out there and do it. Because one day, you will not be able to compete.

          get mad.

Anger gives your opponent control over you.

But, cool waters run deep baby
