    Increase LJ distance

          My p.b. is 22-5, but I need more to be a contender. I know there is no magic potion and since it’s in season I can’t realy do plyometrics to jump better can I? Anyway last meet I jumped 20(2nd) and I didn’t even hit the painted on stripe they called a takeoff board. So I cprobaly hit my pb if the board was real and I actually jumped from it. So what can I do to get out there:rolleyes:

          You seem very anxious to hit that pb and that is ok, but don’t rush/overthink anything in the process. Let each piece of your jump come together (i.e. approach, set-up, takeoff, flight, landing). As you eluded to, there is no magic potion but you will continue to improve with hard work and great mental focus. Not hitting the mark at all obviously affected your end performance greatly in this case so continue to practice both short approaches as well as full approaches. Your approach will make or break your jump in my opinion. Make sure you are lengthening that penultimate step just enough to set up a powerful takeoff from the board (or in that case a painted line). Keep working Nick.

          How would I do short approaches where would I start

          and what should I include in my training to stregnthen my legs to jump farhter.

          such as Plyos. pop ups, weights, etc.

          and would you reccomend using a ramp to work on flight

          You can do short approach jumps just by shortening the length of your approach. I wouldn’t go any shorter than 5 steps.
